Week one.

Out service group today and some from the Spanish.

Hi everyone, sorry we haven't updated in a while. Our first week here has been great. I'll tell you a little about the past few days. On Sunday we had our first meeting here. There were 34 people there including the Russian group, some bible studies, and a few from the Spanish hall who are trying to learn English. Meeting was very nice, one thing that was especially nice is that 3 languages were being sung at the same time during the meeting. After the meeting a group of us went down to the beach. We swam, played soccer, did bible charades, and just enjoyed each others company. It was really nice. Afterwards we went out for pizza, and then had our first experience of driving here in the dark. It was very scary, but after a big traffic jam and a lot of praying we got back to our house. On Monday there was no service so we went to Puerta Plata and rode the gondola up to the top of Mt. Isabel. There was a wonderful view of the whole city, and a botanical garden that we got lost in. We went into some little shops and dickered (or argued over the price) of some jewelry made of the national stone. It was a little stressful but interesting. Then today we went in service again. We all worked in one territory on this street that had around 120 houses on it. There were all three congregations on the one street at a time. Creole, Spanish, and us. It was very nice because we were just taking a census of who spoke English (only like 4 people did). We had another meeting tonight and for such a small congregation it was very nice, yet quiet. We are enjoying our stay here and getting a little more used to it now. Hope you are all doing well. Love ya lots- 4js.
